Jessina Lynn Leonard (she/her) is a visual artist based in Providence, Rhode Island. Her work explores the intersection of photography, religion, and gender. She graduated with a MA in religious studies from Duke University in 2015 and an MFA in photography with distinction from Rhode Island School of Design in 2020, where she was the recipient of the Henry Wolf Award for Photographic Excellence. She has exhibited her work at ClampArt (NYC), A.R.E.A. Gallery (Boston), the RISD Museum (Providence), among other places. In 2019, she was a resident artist at the Studio for Art, Faith and History (Orvieto, Italy), as well as the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge (FL). She is also the recipient of the Houck and K.B. Medford Scholarship in Photography from Penland School of Crafts and the Librarian’s Choice Award for the 6th Baker and Whitehall Artist Book Contest. She has curated exhibits at Cassilhaus (Chapel Hill, NC), Sol Koffler Gallery (Providence) and Dirt Palace (Providence). She has taught visual literacy courses in Durham Public Schools (NC) and at Project Open Door (Providence) and currently teaches at Rhode Island School of Design and Endicott College. She also founded and manages Saint Agnes Studio.
